Your videos will load even faster now! We jumped from Amazon S3 to Amazon CloudFront, the smart Content Delivery Network (CDN) from Amazon. This system will select the server that is nearest to the viewers of your video. So whether your audience is located in the US, Europe or Japan, they will always get fast access to your footage!

In the next weeks we will work on the next step of Amazon integration. We will keep you posted on that as we roll out the updates.

Enjoy the speed!

After we launched the Overlay Player, we received a lot of positive reactions and welcomed a lot of new users. Today we are introducing a couple of updates that greatly enhance the experience of the Overlay Player.

For everyone

  • Overlay load times
Overlays are now optimized to load 10x faster than before. Well, that’s pretty much all there is to say.

  • Full-screen overlays
The full-screen option in the Overlay Player now scales the overlays. We are still tweaking the scaling, but we are very pleased with the first results and wanted you to be able to enjoy it.

  • Video quality enhancement
The quality of your existing videos will be enhanced by a new technique we applied to the Overlay Player that smooths the rough edges. New videos will benefit from higher bitrates and better compression.

For Business Accounts

  • Overlay Opacity
Tweak the opacity of your overlays as you like. The default value is 90% but we leave it up to you to decide what value suits your specific case.

  • Target
Choose the target of your overlay link, the default value is a new (blank) window but you can choose to use the existing window instead. That way you can let your viewers click-through for a smoother experience.

  • Pause on click optional
When a viewer clicks on an overlay the video pauses on default. In some cases you might want to let the video continue to play after a viewer clicks, so we made that an option.

We hope you enjoy the updates and will keep you posted on any new developments!

Together with one of our first partners (Frankwatching) we created the first Dutch VIDDIX show called BehindTheWeb. Every two weeks we visit a Dutch internet company and interview the CEO. The show is published on VIDDIX and Frankwatching. The iPanel is used to display facts & figures, graphs, photos, polls and all kinds of other stuff mentioned in the episode.

Check out these episodes with CreatAd, YouWish, Battle of Concepts, Dik.nl, Eduhub, Rijschool Network, Myngle, Zomoto and Wuzzon.

We hope you enjoy the show and will keep you posted on new initiatives!

Some time ago, we implemented an update which was focused on the readability of our URLs. This brings along some nice side-effects.

First of all, we created channels for everyone! Your channel can be reached at:

http://www.viddix.com/channel/{username}

We will be adding new features in the coming months to enable you to create great channels.

Your videos will also benefit with the introduction of this update. Not only will it help search engines index your video higher, but your audience can actually make up what kind of video they’ve watched or saved in their bookmarks by looking at the URL.

If you encounter any problems in regards to this new update (or general), please let us know by commenting or using the feedback form.

A new option is available to pause your video at a specific cuepoint, to let your viewers focus on what you want to show them. Go ahead and try it!

From now on, everyone has two options to integrate VIDDIX into their website: video-only or the full VIDDIX player.

Full embed
Get the complete VIDDIX experience on your own website. This configuration is powered by ThickBox. Make sure you have it included in your webpages before using the full embed code. To learn how to activate ThickBox on your pages check: http://jquery.com/demo/thickbox/.
ThickBox is not only great for VIDDIX, but for a lot of other applications too. It’s another free and valuable addition to your website.

After installing ThickBox, simply copy and paste the full-embed code of your video (in the videoinfo screen) to your website. A small preview image of your video will appear, and when clicked, an overlay will open and show the full player. Not only stylish but practical as well, as it will fit into any website (the full player is quite large).

This is an example of the result:

Wordpress
For people using Wordpress there is a useful plugin (powered by Gavin Barker), making it even more easy to use Thickbox. Just extract the file, upload it to your plugins folder, activate it. Now you can use the embedcode on your site.

Video-only
The simple & easy option without the iPanel. To use this embed option, copy and paste the embed code to your website (you can find this code in the videoinfo screen of your video).

This is an example of the result:

For the complete VIDDIX experience, the full embed solution is the way to go.

Use these embed versions to show your VIDDIX videos everywhere!
If you encounter any problems please let us know.
